An aquarium with numerous awards and achievements
Aquarium Pula is one of the largest and most visited aquariums in Croatia. The aquarium is located in the 130-year-old fortress “Verudela” in the place of the same name, Verudela, in Pula. The goal of this famous aquarium is to show the beauty of the underwater world, so you can see the most popular inhabitants of this fort: sharks, jellyfish, sea turtles and seahorses
On an area of more than 2500 square meters, there is one of the most diverse displays of the underwater world, as well as numerous Gallerion exhibitions. This is the second largest Gallerion exhibition in the world after the Vienna Military Museum.
The aquarium Pula also has a sea turtle recovery center.
The recovery of found turtles takes up to 6 monthsAfter daily care and a good assessment that a wild animal found injured or floating is ready and has reached good mobility, it is released back into the underwater world where citizens and tourists can participate. This aquarium is not only an aquarium where you can come for a walk and study the Adriatic and exotic underground world with more than 250 Adriatic and Mediterranean species but also the title of numerous awards and certificates. Some of the titles are; “Aquarium certified for the safety and well-being of sea turtles”, “The most popular tourist attraction in 2021”, “The first sustainable aquarium in the Republic of Croatia” and other awards.
Accompanying contents for adults and younger ages are also available. The cafe next to the pond and exposed outdoor aquariums next to the children’s playground is a perfect little corner for a short break with a coffee, and souvenir shops where you can buy a souvenir of this wonderful experience.
The photo corner with artificial sculptures is also fun to visit.
